Tuina Massage in Basel:
Chinese therapeutic massage
Experience Tuina massage in Basel – special techniques applied along the meridians help relieve tension and support the body’s natural regulatory processes.
Do you feel that something is not quite right in your body right now?
Perhaps this feeling manifests itself as restlessness, pain, or simply a vague sense of unease. Maybe it's just a subtle hint—but your body is sending you a message.
Tuina massage is a form of mindful bodywork that is performed with the client fully clothed and covered with a towel. It can help you gently find your center again in a safe and respectful setting.
At my practice in Basel, I will guide you through a personalized 4-step method based on TCM, including qi gong, acupressure, and tuina massage—for greater relaxation, clarity, and stability in your system.
What is Tuina?
Tuina is a therapeutic massage technique from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The term is derived from the Chinese words “Tui” (to push) and “Na” (to grasp).
Tuina is more than just a massage—it is part of a holistic medical system. The treatment combines various manual techniques with work along the meridians to regulate energy flow (qi) and release physical and emotional tension.
Traditional Tuina massage as in China - fully clothed and & covered with a sheet
Experience Tuina as it has been practiced for centuries: fully clothed and with a towel.
This setting gives you a sense of security, respect and preserves your intimacy - while at the same time you experience the beneficial effect of deep touch.
Note: Please bring comfortable clothing - you are also welcome to change on site.
How does Tuina massage work?
In Tuina massage, I use various traditional techniques to get your qi flowing, release tension, and gently guide your system back into balance.
These techniques are individually tailored—gentle or vigorous, calming or invigorating—to suit your body's needs at that moment.
Unlike traditional massages, Tuina focuses on working along the meridians and specifically regulating internal processes.
Typical Tuina techniques that I use:
Mo Lu (strokes): Calm, gliding movements over the skin and tissue. Effect: Calms the nervous system, harmonizes, connects body and mind.
Tui (pushing): Gentle or stronger pushing with the palm of the hand along the meridians. Effect: activates the flow of qi, releases stagnation, opens channels.
An Fa (pressing): Targeted, rhythmic pressure on acupressure points or tense areas. Effect: activates specific points, regulates organ systems, calms or tones depending on intensity.
Rou Fa (kneading/friction): Circular kneading motion with fingers or palms over tense areas. Effect: Releases deep-seated tension, relaxes muscles and tissue.
